Fall A Glorious Season – Canadian Geese

Thanks giving weekend here in Canada allowed time for a walk in the park and the opportunity to capture the beginnings of a glorious season. When we hear the call of the Canadian geese overhead we know that it’s either spring or fall. In either case it is beautiful.

Was walking in a park when I spotted this woodpecker in a tree. I followed him for a bit until I was able to get a picture of him. Love the colors in this picture and the contrast the bird brings to white flowers and blue sky.

Please feel free to submit any questions and I will do my best to answer them. I received a question from “ogletterhead” who blogs over at http://ogletterhead.wordpress.com/ and the question is “What’s ur advice in taking picture in the dark?”. I will post a complete answer Monday, thanks again for the question.

I often see Blue Jays, however they tend to shy away from me when I raise my camera. I know a few people like that too. Just like people I find that it takes time, patience and trust before they warm up to you. Once they do you are able to get some great shots. Here are a couple of subjects that I am working with.
Using a Canon 550D with a telephoto lens 70-300.

Please take a moment to leave me your comments or critiques.

Romance Bird Style

Bird Romance

I was able to photography this from my deck at home. These two birds were sharing a piece of fruit taken from the tree.

Bird on a Trail

On a recent hike in the woods I brought with me some birdseed. This worked out really well as it allowed me to get close to take several nice shots of the birds up close. Even got the birds to eat out of our hands, a really nice experience.

Inspiration where does it come from

Quiet Sea

Quiet Sea

I find from time to time I loose my inspiration, when this happens one thing I like to do is to look at work done by others. Not just look and say oh good shot, but study the photo, see where the light an shadows fall, composition, color etc. I think about how would do the exact same shot or is there a way I could make one with my own personal touch.

When I was younger my grand father had a picture on his wall of a sea gull and the ocean. I remember looking at that photo often.  This is my version on the concept.

Here is a link to a place I like to look for inspiration hope it helps you get started, these are from 10 TOP Google+ Photos for February 25

I would like to know what do you do to get inspired? Please leave a comment below.
